The village of Oreshak is situated in the skirts of Stara planina mountain and three hundred meters from the Troyan monastery. River Cherni Osym is in the vicinity. Also, a lot of beautiful destinations, which can fill your free time with unforgettable moments
Troyan monastery "Uspenie Bogorodichno" is a stauropegial monastery of the The Bulgarian Orthodox Church. It is founded not later than XVI century. The monastery is the third biggest in Bulgaria and is situated on the coast of river Cherni Osym.
In the legend of the monastery's creation it is said that monks from the Aton monastery came from Wallachia with the sanctuary of their monastery - the miraculous icon of the Mother of God Troeruchitsa.
The troyan monastery has two subordinate hermitages.
One of them is "St. Nikola". It is founded in 1785 and it is located 1 km. southeast from the monastery. It is on the west slope of mt. Ivan (1046m.).
In 1956 Iliya Hristov Iliev, a local biology teacher, along with pupils from the nature club from the village, starts research and collective work, in order the kids to visualise the biology classes. He starts stuffing birds and mammals which are found in the native mountains. The interesting collection, ordered in the school corridors, attracts nature lovers from all around the country. In the spring of 1976 the collection is located in a specially built building and from 1st of January 1977 is rebuild in the Nature department of The District History Museum - Lovetch. In 1992 the exposition gains a status of a Museum of Natural History.
Hut "Pleven" is one of the most visited huts in Stara planina mountain, especially for the ones who want to climb the highest peak, mt. Botev, from the north slope of the mountain. The walk to the hut is not to be neglected and if you look for a cosy place in the mountain, with a magnificent view, great hospitality and peaceful atmosphere.
Hut "Ambaritsa" is located on the northeast from mt. Momina Mogila in the Troyan mountain, part of Middle Stara planina mountain. It has two two-storey buildings - old (built 1935 - 1936, capacity 52) and new (built 1953 - 1960, capacity 58). The old building is uninhabited.
The "Skoka" waterfall is located in the vicinity of Kaleytsa village near the town of Troyan. The height of the waterfall is 12m. A beautiful deep pool can be seen under the lake.
The place is easily accessible and with a car you can reach almost to the waterfall. There is a signboard.
"Baba Stana" Neighbourhood is a very beautiful and peaceful little neighbourhood hidden in the nearby forest.
If a person wishes to go to this magical place, it is 5 minutes with a car or 30 minute nice walk through the forest. There is a chapel, a school, old houses, a well, a fountain, basically a rural idyll. This little neighbourhood is full of life although it is somehow in the wilderness. During the spring is gorgeous, it smells of flowering trees and freshly cut grass. It is full with fertile trees and shrubs.
